Flax Fiber for GreenFlax fibers are totally biodegradable and a completely renewable resource that grows naturally and requires minimal or no fertilizers or pesticides compared to other crops. Flax doesn’t require irrigation during the growing process and it’s also carbon neutral, absorbing the same amount of carbon dioxide it produces. | Flax Fiber for MeanAs well as giving Raw boards their awesome distinctive look, Flax Fiber has some of the best mechanical properties available on the market today.

NZ Super SandwichOur super strong & light sandwich construction technology has been perfected right here in New Zealand. It holds up to nearly everything, which means you’ll be riding your board for a long time to come and it won’t end up broken on the rubbish heap. |
Quality PerformanceHaving a board that lasts is one thing, but it needs to be good too! Our boards provide a super sweet ride that’s thoroughly tested to ensure you’ll be riding your board more and not looking for your next one. You may of course not be able to resist adding another Raw model to your quiver. |
Ozone-Free CoreThe internal polystyrene foam core is 100% recyclable and made without generating ozone or greenhouse gases. It’s expanded using steam alone instead of being chemically ‘blown’ the more traditional toxic urethane way. Any leftovers from Raw blanks is recycled and we also recycle the core of old Raw boards – just return to us at the factory! |
Laminating ResinsThe epoxy resins we use create up to 2/3rds less VOC emissions (that cause air pollution and health hazards) than standard PU construction. A step in the right direction for valuing our environment. *UPDATE* We’re currently testing some great Bio-Resins and will be looking to bring these into the build process ASAP! |
Boards Made to OrderWe build to order. Which means no stock, no waste of materials, no waste of energy. Nothing is produced unless you actually NEED IT!. |
Minimal Material Waste:We follow a strict construction process that has been designed to ensure minimal to zero waste. Offcuts of materials are used or recycled throughout the creation of your board. |
In the FactorySometimes it’s the little things that can really add up and make a difference. We work on the policy of minimize waste, maximize reuse and recycle. From moving away from using industry standard solvents like Acetone, to things as simple as recycling mixing pots & consumables, we’ve manage to significantly reduce our waste and toxic output. |
Raw GripRaw SUP boards feature a special application of non-slip grip. It’s made from recycled ground acrylic, and also means your SUP requires no wax (which itself leads to a lot of waste product!). If you have to use wax – then choose one of the great organic bio-degradable options out there. |
Greener PrintingAll our stickers & print material are printed using latex inks. It’s pigmented, water-based ink which uses an innovative aqueous-dispersed polymer technology. (In normal words that means it’s durable, looks great and reduce the impact of printing on the environment!) |
Simple PackagingOur boards are sent out in simple cardboard boxes we make to fit, or in recycled ones returned to us. If your not getting a board bag we may use some bubble wrap to make sure your board is kept safe and sound, but that’s it really. And if you return your box to us we’ll sort you out a refund! |
No LaurelsWe haven’t got any, so there’s no way we can rest on them! With continued development & process reviews, this is just the start of our green focused surfboard building future. We’re dedicated to making changes for the better and without compromise. |
